Walter Farrell Hamilton entered eternal life April 27, 2013. He retired from the Sheriff's Department and was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church.
He was preceded in death by parents Mattie and William Hamilton, siblings Bob, Bill and Allen, Helen Magers and Eleanor Schweickhardt.
Survived by his wife of 48 years, Martha (Head) Hamilton and children Douglas (Denise), Steven (Kate), Mary Beth Fischer and Denise Hamilton and grandchildren Sarah, Robert, Anna and Ella Fischer and Michael, Elizabeth, Madelyn, Nicholas, Caroline, Ashley and Grant Hamilton.
Also survived by siblings Ed Hamilton (Betty), Martha Martin (Jim) and Mary Chamberlain and numerous nieces and nephews.
Walter was a 1953 St. Xavier graduate where he excelled in baseball, football, basketball and track. He was a graduate of U of L where he was baseball team captain, leading the team in home runs, RBIs and stolen bases.
He has maintained a close relationship with his Delta Upsilon fraternity brothers and countless other friends. Walter will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him, especially his family.
The funeral Mass will be at 10 am April 30 at St. Margaret Mary Church, 7813 Shelbyville Road.
Visitation Monday 1-8 pm at Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Road.
