Nellie, 93, of Louisville passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 10, 2013.

She was born May 19, 1920 in Louisville, the daughter of the late Carter George Ross, Sr. and Nellie Delph Ross and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church for over 50 years.

Nellie was an employee of AT&T with over 40 years of service, where she was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers and she traveled the globe with her dear friend, Florence Steigner. She was also a member of the Louisville Hiking Club .

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, William Walter Herman Ross.

Nellie is survived by her beloved brothers, Richard Ross of Louisville, and Carter George Ross, Jr. (Jessie) of Somerset; nieces and nephews, Carter G. Ross, III (Mary Susan), Somerset and William Carter (Angela) of Stillwell, KS. She also leaves to cherish her memory many great nieces and nephews, William Carter Ross, Jr. (Elizabeth), John Ross (Cheryl), Andy Ross (Cassie), Patrick Ross (Laura), Michael Ross, Drinelle Harter (Stephen), Allison Helton (Kevin), Chad Ross (Cristina), Patrick Ross (Debbie) and Tracie Calvin (Derrick); and great-great nieces and nephews, Annie, William, Taylor, Colin, Maddie, Casey, Betsy, Luke, Tyler, Cody, Braylan, Maz, Carter B. and Chaney.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Virginia Gillahue, for the happiness, love and support she provided to Nellie on a daily basis as her neighbor.

Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Road, East Louisville with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Bethany Baptist Church, 2319 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, KY 40205.
