Dove Emblem

Joyce Ann Drury Stillwell, 72, much beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, died peacefully Saturday morning with family and friends by her side at home. She courageously and fearlessly fought the cancer that took her life. Joyce was a business teacher for the Jefferson County Public Schools primarily at Eastern and Ballard High Schools for over forty years. She relished working with students and watching them mature as young adults. Living a very active life, she and husband David enjoyed square dancing for thirty-seven years with the Belles 'n' Beaus Square Dance Club, and also danced with the San-Ta Round Dance Club. They traveled extensively throughout the US and Europe as well as parts of the Middle East. She looked forward every summer to spending time at Dale Hollow Lake sunning and boating. Joyce also enjoyed many hours around the table for meals and card playing with her friends. She has been a devoted Christian for the whole of her life, and presently is a member of Woodland Baptist Church. Her joyful heart and spirit will be missed by all who came in contact with her.

Joyce is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, David, their two children, Stephen Stillwell and Susan Wead (Bill), two grandchildren, Madalyn and Ryan Wead, her brother Ralph Drury (Doris), brother-in-law Norman Stillwell (Judy), sister-in-law Carole Baumgardner, and Bryant Boyle, adopted brother-in-law, as well as other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday at Ratterman Funeral Home 12900 Shelbyville Rd., East Louisville from 3 until 8 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday at Woodland Baptist Church, Middletown, at 2 p.m. with pre-service visitation beginning at 1.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may go to Woodland Baptist Church Building Fund 809 N. Pope Lick Rd. Louisville, KY 40243
